John Burgan, who has been identified by his friends and family, as the man who was attempting a curve when his 2013 Harley-Davidson Road King went off the road in Littlestown (Adams County) at a high rate of speed, state police said.
Burgan's bike struck a mailbox and a utility pole in the 990 block of Frederick Pike/Route 194 in Germany Township— where he passed at 12:39 a.m. on Friday, June 9, 2023, according to PSP.
Police on patrol in Littlestown had witnessed him speeding through the area moments before and followed him— where they, unfortunately, saw the whole crash play out, according to PSP.
Burgan, of Taneytown, MD, was wearing a helmet, authorities said.
Condolences began pouring in over the weekend. One mourn notably remarkable that he was "a genuinely good person."
"John worked as a bartender for Oscar’s and then went on to work for ABC Supply Company as a CDL driver. He enjoyed his aquariums, all kinds of music, and had a record collection," as stated in his obituary.
He is survived by his parents, David and Maureen Burgan (nee Ables), sister, niece, nephew, and extended family.
A celebration of his life will be held at Brewery Fire 4337 Old Taneytown Road STE B, Taneytown, MD at 6 p.m. on Saturday, June 17, 2023. Attendees are asked to confirm here.
